A Timed Automata Approach to Qos Resolution

چکیده
Concern over the accurate evaluation of QoS requirements has been one of driving forces in the development of QoS management architectures. This paper presents an architectural approach to QoS evaluation and admission control, based on the modelling of both system behaviour and QoS requirements. Two aspects are considered. The first refers to QoS management, and to a component-based architecture for QoS evaluation. The second illustrates the approach with the help of a case study based on a Personal Area Network. The proposed approach is model-based and makes use of models representing both behaviour and QoS aspects of the system via Timed Automata. The compatibility of the mechanism with architectures, which promote QoS management in its own right, such as ITSUMO, is also highlighted.

Using Interval Petri Nets and Timed Automata for Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DES)
A discrete event system (DES) is a dynamic system that evolves in accordance with the abrupt occurrence, at possibly unknown irregular intervals, of physical events. Because of the special nature of these systems, different tools are currently used for their analysis, design and modeling. The main focus of this paper is the presentation of a new modeling approach of Discrete Event Systems. The ...
متن کاملVerification of Timeliness QoS Properties in Multimedia Systems
One of the main challenges of the design of object-based Distributed Multimedia Systems is to address the performance related issues such as the Quality of Service (QoS). The specification of QoS is a crucial part of architectural object-based methods such as Open Distributed Processing (ODP). In the ODP, a QoS property assigned to an object is modelled via two clauses of required and provided ...
متن کاملChecking Correctness of Services Modeled as Priced Timed Automata
Service-Oriented Systems (SOS) have gained importance in different application domains thanks to their ability to enable reusable functionality provided via well-defined interfaces, and the increased opportunities to compose existing units, called services, into various configurations. Developing applications in such a setup, by reusing existing services, brings some concerns regarding the assu...
متن کاملSupervisory Control of Real-time Discrete Event Systems under Partial Observation
In this paper, we address the issue of synthesizing an optimal supervisor for real-time discrete event systems modeled by timed automata and under partial observation. Our approach is based on a method of transformation of timed automata into particular finite state automata called Set-Exp-Automata. That is, given the timed automata of the plant and the specification, we construct two Set-Exp-A...
متن کاملProbabilistic Timed Automata with Clock-Dependent Probabilities
Probabilistic timed automata are classical timed automata extended with discrete probability distributions over edges. We introduce clock-dependent probabilistic timed automata, a variant of probabilistic timed automata in which transition probabilities can depend linearly on clock values. Clock-dependent probabilistic timed automata allow the modelling of a continuous relationship between time...
